Welcome Wednesday to launch at Winton and Canford Heath in March

We are pleased to announce the launch of our very first ‘Welcome Wednesday’ Community Social projects in Winton (Bournemouth) and Canford Heath (Poole).

As the Foundation looks to employ a ‘mixed model’ to deliver its charitable purposes, these two pilot projects will aim to create opportunities for social inclusion for people over 65. In particular these projects are targeted at areas either in, or close to, locations identified as having very high levels of deprivation affecting older people. Our own research has shown that living in these areas leads to poorer health outcomes and a higher risk of experiencing loneliness.

Our first event is on March 13th and runs from 1130 am to 2.30 pm at Winton Park Community Cafe. The following weeks sees us launch at The Hub on the Heath in Canford Heath, Poole.

The events will be supported by volunteers from McCarthy Stone, who each get two days a year of paid leave to give back to their community.

All guests attending will be treated to hot food and drinks, and able to chat as much, or as little, as they’d like. It is informal and run on a drop-in basis, but you can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
