Our foundation runs a number of grant programmes throughout the year for organisations supporting people over 65 and an annual income under £250,000 p.a.

Health and wellbeing of older people

Community Grants - Autumn 2024 - Applications Open on July 26th 2024

Our Community Grants programme for Autumn 2024 is now CLOSED for applications.

Timings for the upcoming grants round are as follows:

July 26th: Applications Open.

August 23rd: Applications Closed – shortlisting and due diligence takes place.

September 16th: Shortlisted applications go to Grants Sub-Committee.

September 30th: Sub-Committee meets and recommends awards.

October 15th: Trustee Board meets to approve awards.

October 16/17th: Applicants informed of outcome.

 

 

Welcome Wednesdays - Community Socials

Our Community Socials for people over 65 run in venues across the country, but we are currently looking to expand this and are actively seeking delivery partners in deprived areas to partner with.

These monthly sessions are designed to give local people over 65 the opportunity to come together over a hot meal and a drink at a local community hub.

PLEASE NOTE: We have had an overwhelming number of enquiries in relation to Welcome Wednesday’s so are currently not engaging with any new locations while we work through the current applicants.

Creating and enhancing community spaces

Christmas Connections 2024 - Open 1st September 2024.

Grants of up to £750 are available for small charities and community groups bringing together people over 65 at Christmas.

Christmas Connections grants are for organisations connecting older people between 9th December – 2nd Jan, priority will be given to those organisations working in deprived areas and where activities are taking place over the Christmas holiday period.

At least 40 grants will be awarded.

Please review the Grant Guidance on the application page before completing your application. Examples of activities funded include: the provision of a meal on Christmas Day, group social events, and support for day care centres/community spaces providing services over the festive period.

Small Grants Programme

Core Cost Funding

The Foundation awards unrestricted core funding to grassroots charitable organisations, who have people over 65 at the heart of their work.

Unrestricted funding is only available to registered charities and community groups. We do not fund unrestricted to Community Interest Companies. 

Organisations who can demonstrate a strong alignment with our charitable aims are invited to apply for unrestricted funding, currently up to £7500. If you are unsure whether you should apply for core cost funding, please get in touch for advice.

We know that many small organisations don’t have the resources for complex or extensive grant applications and monitoring, so we will do our best to work with you to make the process simple, transparent, and fair. We will also work with you to help report on the impact the grant will have. You can also find out more in our Grant Making Policy that covers the processes and criteria in greater depth.

Project Funding

We also invite applications for Project Funding. This funding is open to registered charities, community groups, and community interest companies limited by guarantee. This funding is to support a new, or existing, programme dedicated to supporting people over 65 within an organisation.

Although this will typically be restricted, we encourage all organisations submitting an application for project funding to do so on a cost-recovery basis. You can find out more in this article.
