McCarthy & Stone Foundation walking challenges raise an incredible £96,000
Our 2026 walking challenges have raised an incredible £96,000, thanks to the amazing efforts of colleagues, partners, family members and friends who laced up their walking boots to support the McCarthy & Stone Foundation.
Together, our walkers took on two unforgettable challenges, raising vital funds that will help small charities and community groups continue supporting people in later life.
In June, 155 walkers tackled the spectacular South Downs, taking on miles of beautiful countryside in every type of weather. With the support of a fantastic team of volunteers (and even a dinosaur, banana and chicken along the way!), the event raised an incredible £66,000, including Gift Aid and Match Funding.
Take a look at the highlights from the day in our South Downs video.
Earlier in May, more than 70 walkers conquered the Peak District, battling steep climbs, strong winds and heavy rain to raise over £30,000, including Gift Aid and Match Funding.
These fundraising achievements will make a real difference. Together, the £96,000 raised could help fund up to 20 memory cafés, befriending services or community social groups for a whole year, helping hundreds of people in later life stay connected and reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Every mile walked, every donation given and every volunteer who gave their time has helped make this possible. Thank you to everyone who took part and supported our 2026 challenges.
We’d also like to thank Big Storey Productions for capturing our South Downs Challenge so beautifully and to RAW Adventures for providing all the safety and support for both walks.
We’re already looking forward to our 2027 walking challenges – keep an eye out for more information coming soon!
