Earlier this year the employees at McCarthy Stone had a vote for a local charity to win a £1000 grant from our foundation.

We had hundreds of entries, but one clear winner, Buddies Dementia Cafe in Nettleham, Lincolnshire. It was lovely this week to hear from Lulu Wood, with the news that after a very long 18 months Buddies opened again last Thursday for their first meeting.

Lulu told us that: “Pre pandemic we had on average 35 – 40 people attend but last week we had 50 people turn up!  Having lost so many members since we were last able to meet, we were taken by surprise, never expecting so many people to turn up, both old and new. I have attached a short video of the session which I hope you will be able to share with your colleagues and staff to show them where the McCarthy Stone Foundation money has gone to. Buddies gives so much pleasure, fun and laughter to our members, which is highlighted in this video.  Thank you once again.”

We are so happy to see this wonderful community charity back for business and helping local people once again connect with their neighbours and friends.
