£250 grant award made to support intergenerational reading project in Dorset

9 March 2021

With the 8 – 14th March being the second year of National Intergenerational Week, the Foundation is pleased to announce a recent grant award for an innovative project based in Poole, Dorset.

Truth Be Told are a charity that brings together generations around reading, working with families from the local community and local church groups to engage with care home residents across Poole and Bournemouth.

The grant will help enable the charity to develop it’s project in 2021, expanding its reach and developing a body of evidence to support the initiative. This project aims at both reducing loneliness and helping those residents living with dementia. Research shows that 60 minutes of social interaction each week can have a significant effect on improving quality of life for those living with dementia, which has been severely impacted by Covid-19.

We are proud to be able to support Gemma and the Truth be Told team as they look to expand the scope of their intergenerational reading project, and hope to continue working with them as the project develops over coming months.
